Removal HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series CPU Cooling Fan

For the convenience, here we provide a universal instruction for your reference, it is simple and some steps may be different to the disassembly of your laptop. If you need a detailed manual, please contact us, we will email you if we have.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).

1. Make sure that your HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series is powered completely off: Unplug the power cord and take the battery out. .

2. Turn over you laptop and remove all the screws you can see. Then remove all the covers such as hard drive cover, memory card cover.
If you can access the fan now, just unplug the fan cable and remove the screws securing the HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series fan.
If not, remove the DVD drive and the hard drive. Because you have removed all the screws on the back of the laptop, you can pull out the DVD drive directly now.

3. Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it rests on your work surface. Insert a scribe into the indent to lift the keyboard cover on the right side. Ease the keyboard cover up, moving from right to left, and remove it.

4. Remove the screws (if has) that hold the keyboard in place and push back some plastic tabs. Lift the keyboard and unplug the keyboard cable from the motherboard. Remove the HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series keyboard.

5. Remove the screws (may not have) that hold the palm rest in place. Carefully pry loose any plastic snaps on the sides, then lift palm rest up and uplug all the cables. Remove the palm reset.

6. Remove the top cover of the laptop base, you may need to remove some screws and cables firstly. Usually, you can access the fan now. If not, please continue.

7. Remove the screws securing the motherboard and unplug all the cables connected with other parts. Now, take out the motherboard, the fan should be on the back of the motherboard or on the bottom of the laptop base.

8. Remove the screws from the HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series fan, and then disconnect the fan cables. Sometimes you need to remove the heatsink firstly, if so, remove screws that hold the heat sink in place, then remove the entire cooling module from the laptop.

Installing HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series CPU Cooling Fan Replacement

1. Clean any thermal compound residue from the bottom of the heat sink and the CPU.

2. Apply a thin and even layer of thermal compound on the CPU, then reverse the disassembly procedure to install your new fan and assemble the HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series.

3. Turn on your HP 15-G000 15-G100 15-R000 Series. After you use it for a few minutes, you should hear the new cooling fan running and feel warm air blowing from the vent on the side of the laptop.
